How do you know where to go?

When it comes to making the decision about attending a summer camp; there's no secret recipe to what makes a camp great, but there are a great many factors that have to be assessed. So, let's get you the answers to some of these most important categories.
  • Facilities -
With top-notch facilities, individual stall showers to provide welcoming facilities to all, a factor's club for adults, 3 dining halls, a heritage center, four waterfronts on our 165 acre pond, and so much more to offer, Yawgoog's beauty encompasses over 2000 acres.
  • Health/Safety -
With our Armington Memorial Health Lodge, we have EMTs on site around the clock, a Mental Emotional and Social Health Counselor, and a dedicated health lodge director to oversee the operation, health and safety are a key focus to making your experience enjoyable.
  • Food -
Our family style meals allow 8 people to share a meal together. Our food service team works hard to make sure that dietary accommodations are possible so all scouts are able to enjoy their week at camp.
  • Program balance -
    Merit Badge sessions operate:
    - 9:00am - 10:30am
    - 10:30am - 12:00pm
    - 2:00pm - 3:30pm
    - 3:30pm - 5:00pm
    - 7:00pm - 8:00pm
There are program opportunities patrols / troops can sign up for within these time slots, over lunch activities, or even overnight activities.
  • Environment -
Most of the camp is forested and consists of deciduous and evergreen trees. On May 4–6, 1930, the camp suffered a forest fire. Much of the forest was destroyed and subsequently replaced with white pines due to their ability to grow quickly. Remnants of the fire are unnoticeable today. With over 2000 acres, Yawgoog has much to offer. Most of the reservation is forested and consists of deciduous and evergreen trees. On May 4–6, 1930, the camp suffered a forest fire. Much of the forest was destroyed and subsequently replaced with white pines due to their ability to grow quickly. Remnants of the fire are unnoticeable today, but some hiking trails are thick with mountain laurel because of it.
  • Cost/Profitability -
Spirit of Adventure Troops can take advantage of the Adventure Card price unlike other out of council units which offers a discount of $20 off per scout.
  • Challenge -
With over 45 merit badges offered here at Camp Yawgoog, and over 40 other program activities scouts, patrols, and troops can participate in, in addition to challenges, troop tournament, a costume contest, a bake off and so much more. We challenge you, to become the troop of the week - excelling in program and showing the most scout spirit.
  • Staff training -
Camp Yawgoog has been a nationally accredited camp for over 30 years in a row with the National Camp Accreditation Program excelling in program and showing the most scout spirit. Our staff are all trained to NCAP Standards, and in their particular expertise. We offer staff weekends for fellowship, personal development, training and more year round to help support a positive and welcoming staff culture.
