Staffing Opportunities
Directors: Each program area is headed by a qualified director. Some of these positions such as the Aquatics, Nature/Ecology, Shooting Sports and Climbing Directors must be certified from the BSA's National Camp School. Other directors are selected for their unique qualifications for that program area. All directors are required to be age 18+, and some must be 21+. Age requirements appear on the application.
Program Staff: These are the most public Camp Yawgoog members as you see them every day working on merit badges, first class skills and other fun activities like sailing and archery. Program staff members must be 15+ years old to serve on staff.
Support Staff: These are the members of the Camp Yawgoog who work behind the scenes like the kitchen crew preparing 3 wholesome meals a day, reservation services that see to Troop’s needs, trading post staff who supplies your extra nutritional content each day and office staff that help to make everything come together. The minimum age for staff varies by the area being served. Check the age requirements on the application
Yawgoog Leadership Experience: A young Scout, age 14-15 years old, spends time in a variety of program areas in a non-paid capacity. The Y.L.E. Scoutmaster tailors the program for the Y.L.E. member to best match their skills and the needs of the program at camp. Assignments are usually for 2 weeks but may be extended or reduced upon needs of the camp.
Staff Events and Fun: As a member of the Yawgoog Staff there are many exciting activities that only you can be a part of. Besides what is listed above, you will be able to participate in Staff Banquets and Steak Roasts You will go on the “Rocky Point Trip” (actually it’s Six Flags) You can take a night out to Washington County Fair. You will be able to participate in Staff Auctions, "Drive-in" movie nights, Ice Cream socials.
